Finding number nine
We are on the quieter stretch of Jonson Street, one shopfront back from the corner, with a roller door and a chalkboard on the footpath carrying tonight's sunset time.
Do not plan on parking outside. The nearest reliable spaces are three streets back and the walk takes four minutes, most of it under trees.
The bay is a flat entry from the street with no step, and the tables are far enough apart to get a chair through comfortably.
On foot
Four minutes from the main corner, flat and lit.
By bike
Rack on the footpath, right under the light.
By car
Three streets back after six, and a taxi rank two minutes away.
Before you ring
When is the phone answered?
From 2pm, by somebody standing in the room.
Deposit?
None, ever. A phone call books and a phone call cancels.
Can I hold a card table?
Two of the five, for up to six people, same-day is usually fine.
Groups?
Up to twelve with a week's notice; the whole bay on a Monday with a fortnight's.
